“Not quite,” says Black-Tea Party Activist Lloyd Marcus, Chairman of the Conservative Campaign Committee PAC. Mr. Marcus recently returned from Tennessee where he stumped for Joe Carr, the Tea Party Republican primary challenger to GOP incumbent stalwart Lamar Alexander. Marcus notes that the liberal Republican Alexander had a war-chest of $7 million compared to the $1.3 million held by Tea Party challenger Joe Carr who came up short. While Alexander raked in the big corporate money, Carr raised funds from small business owners and concerned citizens.

Marcus notes that Carr won 41% of the vote even with a third straw candidate in the primary who was siphoning off votes that would have likely gone to Carr. Alexander, the incumbent, could not break 50%. “Folks, that is a huge statement of the power of the Tea Party,” observes Marcus.

Marcus sees a pattern in those primaries which include a Tea Party challenger by which the liberal establishment incumbent plays an insider game with dirty tricks. This was clearly the case in the Thad Cochran-Chris McDaniel contest in Mississippi with the use of third party straws, big outside money, and various forms of institutional and questionable informal support.

“I would argue that the Republican establishment is scared of challenges to their liberal base and they are not taking any prisoners in their effort to hold onto power,” argues Marcus. “Yet the Tea Party is not over because the real issues are on our side and if we stay active and continue to press on then we will eventually carry the day,” says Marcus who recently released the single, “We Are Americans” 2014.
