“President Barack Obama stripped the words “under God” out of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address while reciting the famous speech for a Ken Burns documentary commemorating its 150th anniversary,” notes Marius Forte’, author (with Sam Sorbo) of the book, The Answer: Proof of God in Heaven.
“Why would the President alter a speech that is so well known and revered by Americans?” asks Forte’. “And why, since he chose to desecrate the speech that President Lincoln delivered to commemorate America’s most bloody battlefield, did he specifically choose to airbrush out the phrase “under God”?
In case it might be assumed that this was a one-time mistake—a gaffe—it should be noted that Obama has done this several times before.
In 2010, he spoke at a university in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he inaccurately told his audience that the American national motto was “E Pluribus Unum” as opposed to the actual motto which is “In God we Trust. Three times, in 2010, Obama recited the preamble to the Declaration of Independence leaving out the words “by our creator.” And significantly, for four years running, President Obama has omitted any direct statement thanking God in his Thanksgiving address, even though the holiday was created by an executive order issued by President George Washington in 1789 as a thanksgiving to God for the blessings He bestowed on our nation.
It is a troubling issue that a President would choose to remove God from American life, which is the case as demonstrated by his words as well as actions. The fact that Obama continues to alter America’s most essential documents must be addressed. “This omission constitutes fraud and is an expression of dishonesty that more typifies a Communist nation than our own,” notes Forte’. “Whether one believes in God or not is beside the point here. All Americans should reject a deceitful policy that is more resonant to Stalinism than it is to any girded by the basic American traditions of honesty and straightforwardness.”
“This current omission of God should particularly draw attention now that President Obama has been caught telling major lies about Obamacare. If we can’t trust our President to recite the Gettysburg Address, why should we trust him with anything at all?” asks Forte’.
