Armed citizens cause drop on crime in Detroit

Topic: Armed citizens cause drop on crime in Detroit

TALK SHOW GUEST
Alan Gottlieb

Finally some good news out of Detroit, a city which has been decimated by a half a century under a liberal Democratic political machine.

Alan Gottlieb, Chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms and Founder of the Second Amendment Foundation commends Detroit Police Chief James E. Craig who told the Detroit Free Press (7/16) that armed Detroiters are responsible for a drop in crime in 2014.

Robbery is down 37%, break-ins 22% carjackings 30%.

Craig told the Free Press “Criminals are getting the message that good Detroiters are armed and will use that weapon.”

“I don’t want to take away from the good work our investigators are doing, said Craig, but I think part of the drop in crime, and robberies in particular, is because criminals are thinking twice that citizens could be armed.”

Gottlieb hopes that Police Chief Craig, who happens to be African-American and who serves in a city with a large minority population, will inspire other chiefs who also serve in American cities with minority populations. Urban minorities, who have been hit by high crime rates, should take a lesson from Detroit notes Gottlieb.
