In a 2010 Daily Caller article, Lies, damned lies and health care, Scott Wheeler, investigative journalist and author of Promoting Decline: Obama vs. America, wrote that President Obama lied about insurance companies in his campaign to sell Obamacare.
Wheeler wrote about a speech Obama delivered at George Mason University where he stated that under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) insurance companies would not be able to cancel an insured’s coverage when they have a claim. Obama falsely implied that insurance companies were doing this. “This year, they will be banned from dropping your coverage when you get sick. Those practices will end,” he declared.

When Obama delivered this mendacious remark, one that he delivered countless times, it was illegal in all fifty states for insurance companies to cancel an insured’s coverage for getting sick. It had been illegal for twenty years. Indeed, insurance policies were guaranteed renewable as long as the insured person paid the premium.
In another bold faced piece of deception, delivered during that same speech, Obama stated, “They will continue to jack up premiums 40 percent or 50 percent or 60 percent, as they have in the last few weeks without any accountability whatsoever.” Continue Reading →
